February 1993

It's been almost seven months now since I sent a Reunion request to the American Legion magazine for publication. I really wondered what response, if any, would be forth coming. At this time we have compiled a list of 234 names, and have located about 35 - 40 of them. A good start but we have a long way to go yet. Our best guesstimate at this time is that there were probably some 1200 - 1400 people who were in the 735th.

Thanks to those of you who were able to send me copies of old military orders. I would ask the rest of you to dig around in the closet or garage to see if you can find any more data that will help us build a more complete list. Every single name helps us.

My best source says that the 735th was established in late 1952 and stayed around until 1960.After that time I think that the Peace Corp. may have taken over the site. I spoke with one of the original Airman to start the 735th, and I wonder if there is anyone out there that was in at the finish. We'd like to hear from you.

I could send you a copy of the list if anyone is interested, and perhaps you could add missing information to it. Just let me know if you are interested, and don't forget to send postage to help out.

Steve Greef

P.S. The first one to call about the 735th reunion notice in the American Legion was Bob Ewing from North Carolina. Then came calls from Indiana, Iowa, Nebraska, Texas, New York, Washington. Tennessee, and Connecticut. We also received letters from several more states.

After 35 years -- It Finally Happened

It really happened for members of the 735thAC/W Sqdn. A Reunion after almost 40 years ! ! !

What a great experience to see people from our common past in Morocco after this much time has passed. Some were familier faces and some of them were new, but it was if we had always known each other.

Each one of us was hopingthat a certain old buddy would show up, and probably each of us was a little disapointed when that didn't always happen for us. But you know what? It really did not matter after a short time, because the new friends were so pleasent and such a joy to be with, probably in many cases even more fun than the old buddies who wasn't there.

I was really something special to hear all of these people tell of their experiences in Maroc and of the years that followed. We all had some tough times too, but everyone present was a survivor. What a great bunch of people !You can see from the list of participants that they come from near and far. What a great effort by guys like Bil Meyer, Sam & Carol Cole, Ken France, GerryWheeler, and Bill Cody, all the way fromAlaska. The list goes on to include Texas, North and South Carolina, Iowa, Kentucky, Tennessee. Indiana, Nebraska, Kansas, and even Illinois.

Judy and I would to say how proud we are to have friends like you and to have been a part of this, OUR FIRST 735TH REUNION.

Thanks
