Ruins of Fortress at river entrance to Port-Lyautey

Many enjoyable hours were spent on the beach at Port Lyautey
I worked mostly as Sgt. of the Guard. I also volunteered for midnight shift. This way when I woke the day shift crew and took them to breakfast, I could wake someone with a driver license, who would sign out a 6x6 for us to take to the beach. We would leave just after breakfast and return late in the afternoon in time for evening chow. Made for a good day at the beach as it wasn't a very long drive. Maybe 25 -30 miles each way.

Southwestern end of the fortress looking up from the road.
You can see the gunports on the left side of the picture, looking out over the river.
Road to the beach.
Looking down at the road approaching the beach. This view looking through one of the gun ports.
Entrance to ?
Just one of many entrance ways on the inside. Going to various places inside and out.
Inside of the southwestern end of the Fort.
These are the ports from the inside, that you see in the picture at the top.
Oven?
This appeared to be an oven. I would think that it was used for making bread, along with other cooking chores.
The Cannons.
All the cannons were aimed at the River entrance. Looked like it would be very effective against ships trying to get into the Harbor.
